Cycle-related symptoms continue to affect 90% of menstruators, yet research around these issues remain unfunded. Elix was founded with the mission of igniting conversation around menstrual health and democratizing access to proven holistic solutions.
This report summarizes findings from the 42,173 completions of the Elix Online Health Assessment in 2020.
The data reveals how common it is for people who menstruate to experience debilitating symptoms such as pain, irregular cycles, heavy bleeding, stress, bloating, mood swings, fatigue, breast tenderness, acne, constipation, loose stools and more.
Cycle-related symptoms continue to affect up to 90% of menstruators, leading to over a billion hours of lost productivity annually. Yet in the U.S. healthcare system, only 4% of research and development addresses women’s health issues, which leaves us with a lack of safe and sustainable solutions for a range of menstrual and hormone-health related issues. Modern people who menstruate essentially have the same options as their grandmothers did to treat life-disrupting menstrual interferences.
We launched Elix to democratize access to the healing potential of Traditional Chinese Medicine with clinically-proven solutions via a tech-enabled platform and proprietary online health assessment. We developed our online health assessment with our medical advisory board, which is made up of world-renowned physicians and experts. People answer 60 questions about their cycles, current state of health and overall wellbeing to discover the root cause of their monthly symptoms and the best herbs to support natural healing.
Collecting data from the online health assessment over the past year has only reinforced how common it is for people who menstruate to experience debilitating symptoms - and the wide range of symptoms - and also why it’s so essential to have alternative solutions available.
