In Chinese Medicine, Orange Peel is used to move qi in the middle jiao (stomach and intestines) and transform dampness and phlegm. It helps descend qi to relieve acid reflux, nausea, burping or vomiting. Chen Pi also helps move qi in the lungs and dissipate phlegm.
In Western medicine, Aged Tangerine Peel is recognized for its ability to relieve gastrointestinal discomforts, its anti-inflammatory properties, and ability to aid in stress reduction, weight loss, skin health, cholesterol regulation, and eye health.
Fun Fact: Chen Pi is a common ingredient in Chinese Cuisine, in famous dishes like Orange Chicken or Tangerine Beef it is used both for it’s flavor and digestive properties.
How we use it
"I like to make my own after dinner digestive tea with tangerine or mandarin peels: after properly washing, simply leave the peels out to dry, once fully dried, store in an air-tight container. Pour boiling water over a few pieces, let steep, and there you have it! "
